Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat! There is no denying that Christmas is getting ever closer. In a few weeks we shall be into November and the countdown will really begin. Yesterday I actually heard Christmas songs whilst doing my weekly shop, most unnerving for somebody who doesn’t start Christmas shopping until the 24th December. My Christmas presents are always bought with thought but by buying them at the last minute, they usually cost a little less. Admittedly I sometimes re-gift with presents which I didn’t really like. I usually get plenty of those.
Socks. Socks have to be the most annoying and thoughtless gift of all time. Year after year my Aunty insists on buying me socks. I have a thousand pairs of black socks and whilst they are useful they are not really personal. However much worse than socks is any Christmas gift which is bought from Halfords or gifts generally intended for your car.
I have had them all. Valeting kit, car hoovers and even an air freshener which is supposed to give off a “new car smell. At Christmas most retailers see profits rise and the car industry wants to make certain that it gets in on the act. Autoglym package polish, wax and car sponges into Christmassy boxes and try to pass them off as a gift. If any of my relatives are reading this, please note, rather than buy a “spa kit” for my New Seat Ibiza car, buy a car valeting voucher and get somebody else to do all the hard work!
